Law will take its own course: Sadananda Gowda on charge against son
Bangalore, Aug 28 (IBNS): After an FIR alleging rape was lodged by an actress against Railway Minister Sadananda Gowdas son Karthik hours after he got engaged here on Wednesday, the union minister said the law would take its own course in the case.
Actress Maithriya Gowda claimed she and Karthik had got married after a courtship as she accused Kartik of rape and cheating upon her.
Reacting to the charge, Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda said: "Law will take its own course."
The actress claimed to be his wife and gave interviews to local television channels claiming she had met Karthik through a common friend and later unofficially got married.
She said they on June 5 had married before God as their witness in the house of Karthik in Mangalore.
She, however, said there is no proof of that marriage.
Police said the complaint was registered with the RT Nagar police station.
Karthik, however, denied the charge saying, “My father is a respectable man. Why should I spoil it?”
Alleging a conspiracy, Sadananda Gowda earlier was quoted in media: “I was shocked to see this report. It hurt me...I am not aware of what happened. But suddenly after the engagement if one girl claims such things, it leads to suspicion.”
