LeT commander Lakhvi given bail in abduction case
Islamabad, Jan 9 (IBNS): A lower court in Pakistan granted bail to top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi in connection with an abduction case, media reports said.
But Lakhvi will remain in jail as per the orders of the Pakistan Supreme Court order.
The LeT commander was also a key mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Earlier, Lakhvi, who had been in jail since 2009, was granted bail by an anti-terror court on December 18 but was rearrested.
His counsel had appealed against his detention in the High Court, which held it invalid.
The country’s Apex court had also over-ruled a recent high court verdict suspending Lakhvi’s detention after he was granted bail in December last year.
The Pakistan government had challenged the high court order in the Supreme Court, reports said.
