Model found dead with her throat slit in Mumbai apartment
Mumbai, May 18 (IBNS) A 40-year-old model was found dead with her throat slit in an apartment in Mumbai's Versova late Saturday evening.
Shikha Joshi, who hailed from Delhi, had been living in Mumbai for the last eight years and had moved in with her friend three months ago.
Reports quoted police as saying that she was found dead in her friend's apartment with her throat slit.
In her statement to the police, the model's friend said that Shikha had been depressed for a while. After she found Shikha in the bathroom, she called her husband, and they took her to the Kokilaben Hospital where she was declared dead.
The police have filed an Accidental Death Report in the matter and are investigating the case further. However, the post mortem report is awaited and until then, the incident will be treated as a case of suicide.
Shikha's brother Vishesh Joshi however claims that Shikha had filed a molestation complaint against a doctor in the area, whom she had visited for cosmetic surgery a few years ago. The case against the doctor is currently being heard at Bandra Court.
"There was pressure on Shikha to withdraw the case. I spoke to her an hour before we heard of her death. She sounded normal. I asked her if she needed any money or help, but she refused. An hour later, Madhu called my mother to say Shikha had committed suicide. I don't believe it, there is something more to this," Vishesh told NDTV.
