Moderate earthquake shakes Kashmir
Srinagar, Dec 26 (IBNS) Kashmir was shaken by a moderate intensity earthquake at about 12:45 hrs on Saturday.
Reports said tremors also felt in other parts of north India.
People in the valley came out of their homes in the small hours and stayed out for long time, reciting prayers.
The earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale was felt for 30 seconds, the Meteorological office said.
The epicenter of the quake was in the Hindu Kush region near Afghan-Tajikistan border.
According to local media reports, a man died of heart attack after earthquake.
"Zarid Ahmad, a resident of Gulatha Harni in Mendhar of Jammu city suffered a shock during the earthquake," Police said.
It was the third time in recent months when Kashmir valley witnessed an earthquake.
