Mohan Yadav picked as new Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister in surprise move by BJP
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday named Ujjain South MLA Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister-elect, weeks after the party registered a thumping victory in Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls.
He was chosen as the BJP Legislature Party leader during the meeting held here on Monday, BJP sources told UNI.
Former Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who recently resigned after being elected to the state assembly, was named as speaker.
Yadav represents Ujjain South in the Assembly and is believed to be the choice of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as well, UNI news agency reported.
Jagdish Deora and Rajesh Shukla were named two deputy CMs of the state.
The BJP registered a thumping victory in Madhya Pradesh by winning 163 in the 230-seat assembly.
Mohan Yadav is going to be the fifth Chief Minister of the BJP after he takes oath in the upcoming days.
BJP leaders like Sunderlal Patwa, Uma Bharti, Babulal Gaur and Shivraj Singh Chouhan have earlier served as CM of the state.
Chouhan served the state for over 16 years as CM.
