NIA files chargesheet in Malegaon blast case, clean chit to Sadhvi Pragya
Mumbai, May 13 (IBNS) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a chargesheet in a Mumbai court in connection with the 2008 Malegaon bomb blasts case.
In the chargesheet, the NIA has dropped Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur's name as an accused.
According to reports, he chargesheet states that the evidence against the other key accused ‘Colonel Prasad Purohit’ was fabricated and the investigation led by Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare was faulty.
Twelve persons, including the Sadhvi and Purohit, were arrested for carrying out a blast at Malegaon, a predominantly Muslim town in north Maharashtra, on September 9, 2008. The blast killed six persons and injured 100.
