Orlando (Florida), June 13 (IBNS) While the families of the people injured or killed were trying to come to grips with the horror unleashed at the gay nightclub in Orlando city of Florida, US presidential nominee Donald Trump tweeted about his views on radical Islam and even said President should step down.
In a series of tweets, Trump said, "Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!"
"Is President Obama going to finally mention the words radical Islamic terrorism? If he doesn't he should immediately resign in disgrace!"
"What has happened in Orlando is just the beginning. Our leadership is weak and ineffective. I called it and asked for the ban. Must be tough" tweeted Trump.
On Sunday, the day of the incident, amid reports that the Florida mass killer was a pro-ISIS man, US President Barack Obama said the killing of at least 50 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando city of Florida was an act of terror and hate.
In a statement he read out, Obama said the Orlando mass shooting was “an act of terror and an act of hate”. "The FBI is appropriately investigating this as an act of terror. We will go wherever the facts lead us ... What is clear is he was a person filled with hatred."
The attacker was identified by officials as Omar Mateen. CNN said Mateen called 911 around the time of the attack to pledge allegiance to ISIS and mention the Boston bombers, according to a U.S. official.
The gunman, an American citizen living in Florida, legally purchased the firearms within the last week, said Trevor Velinor, Asst. Special Agent In Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Tampa Field Office.
The mother of one of the victims that her son texted her from the nightclub saying, "He is coming, I am going to die," reported the media.
Other media reports, quoting eye-witnesses, said that the people inside the club first thought it was fireworks.
UN Chief, Ban Ki-Moon has condemned the shooting -- a statement issued from his office said, "The Secretary-General condemns the horrific attack this morning in Orlando, Florida, in which dozens of people were killed and injured,” media reported
