Rahul Gandhi vacates official Delhi residence days after his disqualification as MP
New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday vacated his office residence in New Delhi days after his disqualification as a Member of Parliament even as the Congress leader reiterated his resolve to speak out truth for whatever it costs him.
Rahul Gandhi was living in a government bungalow at 12 Tughlaq Lane, but he was asked to vacate the house, which he has been occupying since 2005, after his disqualification from the Lok Sabha following a two-year jail term verdict by a Gujarat court in a defamation case.
"People of Hindustan gave me this house for 19 years, I want to thank them. It's the price for speaking the truth. I am ready to pay any price for speaking the truth...," Rahul Gandhi said, as quoted in the media.

Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to a 2-year jail sentence in the 2019 defamation case for his remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi involving his surname.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha poll campaign, the Gandhi scion had said, "How come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname."
A complaint, which was lodged by BJP leader Purnesh Modi, claimed Rahul had defamed the entire Modi community.
