Signs of solution over India-China border stand off
New Delhi, Sep 24 (IBNS): There have been signs of resolution along the Chumur sector in Ladakh region after Chinas People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Tuesday asked for another flag meeting at Chushul with Indian commanders, reports said.
About 1,000 armed Chinese troops had crossed about five km into the Indian Territory last week. The worst Chinese transgression in years had taken place at a time when neighbouring nation’s President Xi Jinping visited India, the first by a Chinese head of state in eight years.
India also rushed reinforcements of about 1,500 soldiers to Chumur sector after learning the news of third such intrusion by armed Chinese troops in a little over a week. Soldiers from both the sides were locked in an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation at the border,
“Diplomacy is at work quietly. We are confident that border security is in good hands," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said on Wednesday.
Sources said that some reduction started taking place on the Chinese side since last night.
As two previous meetings failed to break the deadlock, India decided to take time before agreeing to meet the Chinese counterparts. Sources said India will respond only after a meeting called by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval with Army Chief General Dalbir Suhag and representatives of other stakeholders on Wednesday.
