
Sri Lankan foreign minister meets Sushma Swaraj
New Delhi, July 11 (IBNS) Sri Lankan foreign minister G. L. Peiris, who is on a three day India visit that concludes on Friday, met India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the last day of his stay and the two leaders understood to have discussed the issue of Indian fishermen who are often taken captive by the Lankan authorities for alleged fishing in their waters.
Swaraj and Peiris met at the Hyderabad House.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse had attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May and Peiris convey that Modi is also invited to visit Sri Lanka.
The ethnic Tamil in Sri Lanka issue and their human rights was also expected to have been discussed.
