by IBNS 25 Apr 2015, 09:53 am

Srinagar, Apr 25 (IBNS) The Kashmir valley is observing shut down over the detention of senior Hurriyat leader Masarat Alam on strike call of Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday.

Shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads.

A small number of private transport is plying in civil line areas of Srinagar.

According to reports, security personnel were on guard to prevent any untoward incident.

An FIR was lodged against Alam, Geelani and other member of Geelani faction, Pir Saifullah, for “waiving Pakistani flags” and raising “Pro-Pakistan slogans” at a rally on Apr 15. The rally was organized by Hurriyat (G) on the return of Geelani from New Delhi.

Alam is accused of joining a rally last week at which some people waved Pakistani flags, angering Indian politicians.

Geelani had called for protests after Friday prayers and a strike on Saturday against the government decision, saying there was no moral or legal justification in slapping the PSA on the separatist leader.
