Sukma attack by Maoists a cold blooded murder, will review strategy : Rajnath Singh
New Delhi, Apr 25 (IBNS) : Describing the Chhattisgarh massacre of CRPF personnel as an act of "cold blooded murder" by the Maoists, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said the Government accepts it as a challenge and will review its strategy to deal with the underground extremists.
"It is an act of desperation. We have accepted it as a challenge. We will review the strategy and if necessary we will revisit (it)," he tweeted.
Singh, who arrived in Raipur to take first hand account of the incident, told reporters that it was a "desperate attempt" to block development.
Carrying out one of the deadliest attacks in the recent times, Maoists killed 25 CRPF jawans in a forest area of Sukma district on Monday.
Six CRPF personnel, critically injured in the incident, are now battling for life.
A soldier, who survived the attack, said there were about 300 Maoists, who carried out the operation when CRPF men were guarding road workers.
Accompanied by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, the Union Home Minister visited the injured soldiers, who are being treated in a local hospital.
He also paid tributes to the slain jawans.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have condemned the attack and offered condolences to the families of the deceased.
