Uddhav Thackeray telephones Amit Shah on post-poll tie-up
Mumbai, Oct 20 (IBNS): Amid speculations of a post-poll alliance, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday reportedly made a phone call to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, media reports said.
Thackeray also spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 10-minute conversation.
Sources said no specifics were discussed in the elephonic conversation except a broad agreement that was made to move forward in Maharashtra.
The Shiv Sena chief also spoke to Devendra Fadnavis, the frontrunner for the chief minister’s post and senior state BJP leader Om Mathur.
The BJP fell short of a majority in Maharashtra by 22 seats. The saffron brigade won altogether 123 Assembly seats in Maharashtra.
It was widely expected that BJP would go with former ally Shiv Sena which won 63 seats, reports said.
In Maharashtra, all previous alliance partners - BJP and Shiv Sena of NDA and Congress and NCP of UPA - fought elections individually after failing to forge pre-poll tie-up.
