UNSW continues to score in graduate employability
New Delhi: Sept 12 (IBNS): UNSW Sydney, one of Australias leading research and teaching universities, has moved up eight spots in the global rankings for graduate employability, adding to its attractiveness for students worldwide.
The 2019 edition of the QS World University Rankings: Graduate Employability, that reviewed 500 universities, has placed UNSW 28th in the world for graduate employability. The 2018 QS Graduate Employability Rankings had placed UNSW 36th in the world.
The QS graduate employability rankings were launched in 2015. This year more than 40,000 employers were surveyed across 39,000 mapped degrees and affiliations.
Besides graduate employment outcomes, the rankings rate employer reputation, partnerships with employers, presence of employers on campus and achievements of alumni.
At 28th in the world, UNSW is among the top 6% in the rankings.
UNSW scored very highly in Employer Reputation (94.9%) and Alumni Outcomes (93.3%). It was also above the Australian average for Partnerships with Employers.
The results follow UNSW’s top spot for graduate employability in a national survey of students earlier this year.
In May, UNSW Sydney received the Most Popular Graduate Employer Award at the Top 100 Graduate Employers and Future Leaders Awards.
Winners were selected on the basis of ratings from more than 90,000 university graduates who logged on to GradConnection’s website in 2017.
“Education provides many opportunities and in practice the opportunity to get a good job is one of them. I am delighted that once again UNSW has such a high world ranking in employability which shows how in demand our graduates are,” said Professor Merlin Crossley, UNSW Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education).
In July, UNSW, ranked at 45 in world QS rankings, had 38 of its subjects feature in the global top 100 of the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2018.
According to Amit Dasgupta, former Indian diplomat and current country director for UNSW, “UNSW’s teaching pedagogy is rooted in the learning experience that it provides to its students. Consequently, the university recognizes that guaranteed high quality employability requires a teaching pedagogy that is constantly evolving to meet market demand and to anticipate future requirements. This is what makes UNSW stand out.”
