UP CM Yogi Adityanath gives rupees five crore towards Cyclone Ockhi relief
New Delhi, Dec 5 (IBNS): Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday in New Delhi and handed over a cheque for disaster relief in the Cyclone Ockhi afflicted areas.
He handed over a cheque worth rupees five crore to the Prime Minister from Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) towards Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF), for the cyclone affected people in Lakshadweep and other states, the Prime Minister's office said in a release.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman appreciated the UP CM's donation on Twitter, saying "Thank you Hon CM @myogiadityanath. Timely. @CMOKerala @BJP4Keralam @PonnaarrBJP @BJP4TamilNadu @Kummanam @VMBJP."
Cyclone Ockhi battered parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep islands and claimed over 20 lives in the southern states rom where it travelled towards Maharashtra and Gujarat.
