US Open: Sania-Martina makes it 2 in a row, lifts up the Doubles title
New York, Sept 13 (IBNS) Months after winning Wimbledon title, Sania Mirza repeated her dominance in the US Open as the Indian tennis star along with her seasoned Swiss partner Martina Hingis won the Womens Doubles title with some authority, here on Sunday.
Entering the match as a clear favorite, Martina-Sania played with composure to clinch the first set 6-3.
They emulated their success in the ensuing set to clinch the set 6-3 to win the match against the Australian-Kazakhstan pair of Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova and lift the cup.
This is Mirza’s second Women's Doubles Grand Slam and fifth overall.
Her partner, Hingis, 34, after winning the Mixed Doubles with Leander Paes a day ago, clinched her 11th Doubles Grand Slam title. She now has 20 titles overall spanning across Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
