Uttar Pradesh : 14 killed, 28 injured as truck with marriage party falls into canal in Etah
Etah, Uttar Pradesh, May 5 (IBNS) : Fourteen members of a marriage party were killed and at least 28 injured when a truck carrying them veered off the road and fell into a canal in Uttar Pradeshs Etah district early on Friday morning, media reports said.
The accident occurred near Sarai Neem when the truck was returning from Nagla Lal Singh in Jalesar area of the district.
According to reports, All passengers were from Nagaria village, Shamshabad, in Agra district.
It is yet to be ascertained what caused the accident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of the victims and announced ex gratia of Rs. 2 Lakhs from PMNRF for the next of kin of those killed and Rs. 50,000 for those seriously injured.
"My thoughts are with all those who lost their loved ones in the accident in Etah, UP. May those injured in the accident recover quickly", the Prime Minister said.
