Varanasi: Kejriwal files nomination; confident to win
Varanasi, Apr 23 (IBNS) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) architect Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday filed his nomination from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to fight the Lok Sabha elections.
"From the huge response we got from the people of Varanasi, we are confident to win," said Kejriwal as a massive crowd cheered for him as he filed his nomination papers.
"The people of Varanasi have decided not to vote for the Congress or the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). They have decided to choose a person they can interact with on a daily basis," he said.
The AAP leader, who is fighting the Lok Sabha polls from here and pitted against BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, will stay inVaranasi till May 12 when the nine-phase elections in India ends.
"Whole Varanasi comes out in support of Arvind Kejriwal as he goes on to file his nomination," posted AAP on their Facebook page.
"Arvind Kejriwal will file his nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday, April 23. He will proceed from Lahurabeer Chowk, Azaad Park at 9 AM. All AAP volunteers and supporters are invited to be part of this rally," it said earlier.
Ahead of filing nomination, AAP tweeted: "BJP+Cong spending money like water for their image making. Now 'common man' become smart & vote for AAP."
