Srinagar, Jul 18 (IBNS) Violence broke out in Kashmir valley soon after the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers as hundreds of people took to street and clashed with police over hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani's detention.

Reports said the state police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel used batons and burst tear gas shells to disperse the mob that indulged in heavy stone throwing in several places.

At some places in Srinagar city, masked youths waved Pakistani and ISIS flags.

Geelani was not allowed to offer prayers in a mosque on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr as he remained under house arrest since his return from New Delhi on April 15.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has blamed the Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP), a partner of the People's Democratic Party-led government in Jammu and Kashmir.
