Hilton Garden Inn: Singapore's Little India vibes and functional comfort

In the heart of Singapore's vibrant, colourful Little India district, stands tall one hotel- Hilton Garden Inn. As our cab passed through the streets dotted on either side with the colourful heritage houses (read shop houses), we knew we were in a part of Singapore where old culture blends with the vibes of modern kickass Singapore.

So when we reached the unostentatious and yet elegant Hilton Garden Inn, just blocks away from the gorgeous Sri Veerama-kaliamman Temple,  we had already warmed up to the area- the Serangoon district of Singapore.

In a few minutes what I discovered from the room's bay window was a beautiful city view that is somewhat different- the Singapore skyscrapers afar were preceded by a sweeping view of warren of two storeyed shop houses of Little India with their beautiful orange clay tiled roofs.

Welcome to Hilton Inn Garden in Singapore's Serangoon district.

Nestled in Singapore's Little India district, which has its own heritage character, Hilton Garden Inn opened in 2017 with 16 floors combining 328 rooms, including 70 deluxe city view rooms besides ten rooms with balcony. It is just a few minutes walk from the nearest Little India metro station (half a km) and the city centre can be like less than ten minutes' ride (some little over 5 km away).

At the heart of Singapore's Little India district, the hotel is a walking distance from Mustafa Centre shopping. Little India Rapid Transit Station links it to the downtown attractions including the Gardens by the Bay and Suntec Exhibition and Convention Center.

Rooms:

I stayed in a King Deluxe Room with City View and I loved its wall to wall window pane (bay window) vista of colonial shop houses. The rooms come with complimentary WiFi, the bay window seating area, fridge and walk-in-shower. They are not super sized but it is a modern 21 sq. m. deluxe room. This room features a king-sized Suite Dreams  by Serta bed a lovely desk with an ergonomic chair. You can watch the 43-inch HDTV or surf the web with complimentary WiFi.

Needless to say it has the usual mini-fridge, adjustable air-conditioning, coffee/tea maker, iron/ironing board, built-in universal plug points.

Perched on level 16, the hotel's highest floor has some 22 sq. m. deluxe rooms with balconies, offering a commanding city view.

Eats

The Garden Grille is where you eat during your stay. By the poolside on the 8th floor, Hilton Garden Inn's  contemporary restaurant serves cooked-to-order breakfast of local and international favourites. As you watch the heritage shophouse rooftops and the modern skyline, enjoy your meal by a simple no frills swimming pool. You can unwind here at the end of the day with a sundowner.

The hotel has a fitness centre too for those not willing to skip their daily gym regime.

Hilton Garden Inn is not a super luxurious property, but in the highly expensive Singapore this hotel is value for money at a very moderate rate if you book in advance from any of the booking sites.
