Omni Hotel Chicago: Feel Magnificent on Magnificent Mile

Even before I had checked into this magnificent property in the heart of the Magnificent Mile in Chicago, what attracted me to Omni Chicago Hotel was an image of a suite with a white vintage ornamented emblem of Chicago's signature architecture on a deep Yale blue wall right above a luxurious bed, neatly draped in white hypo-allergenic linens.

And then, when you actually check in, you are greeted with a slice of iconic Chicago art and architecture all across the Omni Hotel which the property says is an attempt to forge "historical elements of Louis Sullivan (famous American architect hailed as 'father of skyscrapers')'s intricate sketches, the Chicago School's building materials of terracotta, limestone, steel and brick, with the whimsy of modern sculptures synonymous with the city. "

The Omni Chicago Hotel, on North Michigan Avenue, is a luxury hotel located in close proximity to the city's top tourist attractions, including museums, shopping centres and the waterfront.

A stay in Omni Hotel Chicago is a rich experience in sophistication and understated luxury, as it offers something for all kinds of travellers- from business executives to families or couples on a holiday.

Accommodation:

While each of the 347 guest rooms (they are residential style suites) at Omni features  either one king or queen bed and a separate living area featuring a wet bar, work desk and flat screen HD televisions in both the sleeping and living area, in essence, the 400 square feet area is  a fusion of Chicago's modern charm and historical spin-off.

"The rooms incorporate unique architectural elements and distinctive in-room lighting that combine to mirror the Chicago skyline, which evolves to take on a new identity each nightfall," says a senior hotel official.

Eats:

If you want to enjoy a sumptuous meal overlooking the Michigan Avenue, come to 676 Restaurant in the hotel. 676 Restaurant & Bar at Omni Hotel Chicago is known for its dramatic views of Chicago's Magnificent Mile and a commitment to local cooking representative of the seasonal Midwestern palate. The hipster joint underwent a transformation to create a more intimate setting for guests.

Edison style lighting places a spotlight on a new sepia mural that wraps around the room.  You enjoy here a “farm-to-table” cuisine utilizing local farms and produce from their own rooftop terrace gardens. Executive Chief Chef Joshua Hasho grew up preparing freshly caught lake fish over the open fire with his dad in the suburbs of Detroit and so he is one who believes in the purity of fresh ingredients, says a hotel executive. The bar at Omni has been named one of the Top 10 Hotel Bars in Chicago by Michigan Avenue Magazine.

Wellness:

Omni Chicago has a state-of-the-art fitness facility, available to all guests. The fitness centre is equipped with all the latest exercise equipment- from elliptical machines to Nautilus machines and Cybex equipment. Spread over 700 sq feet, it is open round the clock. In the locker room water, fruit and towels are complimentary. While the rooftop sundeck offering a view of the iconic Chicago’s skyline is at your disposal and good for summer days, the hotel's indoor swimming pool is available year-round to all guests from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. A guest can also relax on their 5th-floor tanning deck.

Before I sign off, I want to share a tip from one of the online platforms where I had read about this hotel. It says while booking a room ask for a room with city view, to make the most of their luxurious suites. Well, I advise you so, and rest is luck!!!!

David Katz, Director of Sales & Marketing, Omni Chicago Hotel, speaks on the advantages of the hotel.

Our hotel is good for large families since all the guest rooms are suites. One big advantage is our location. We are right on Michigan Avenue. The hotel has loyalty programme for its select guests with offerings like free nights. You can want your morning beverage packet to be just left outside your door. All our cheeses are locally produced offering a farm-to-table experience.  We also try to offer our guests visiting Chicago some local experiences like taking them to pizza making classes or helping celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day with a one hour cruise along the Chicago River after the famous River Dyeing.
