2002 hit and run case: Salman Khan to record his statement

Mumbai, Mar 27 (IBNS): Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Friday will put up his defence and record statement in the 2002 hit and run case.

It will be a testing day for the actor as he will have a chance to state his version as to what led to the mishap.
 
Judge DW Deshpande has summoned Khan to give his statement in the court under section 313 of Code of Criminal Procedures (CrPc).
 
This comes after the prosecution closed its evidence by examining all his witnesses in court.
 
Earlier, Dr Shashikant Pawar, a key witness had stated  that Khan was not under the influence of alcohol after the accident.
 
Advocate Shrikant Shivade, appearing for Khan, had also added that the actor’s blood samples were taken without his consent. To this, the doctor had stated that verbal consent was sought before taking the blood samples, the release added.
 
One person had died and others were injured in the accident when a car of Salman Khan allegedly hit a pavement in Bandra on Sept 28, 2002.
