82.24% pass Madhyamik examination
Kolkata, May 22 (IBNS): The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) on Thursday declared the results of Secondary/Madhyamik examination 2014.
The WBBSE this year declared the results after 77 days from the completion of the secondary examination.
Announcing the results at a press conference here, WBBSE administrator Kalyanmoy Ganguly said, "This year the number of female candidates are more than the number of male candidates. Results are better than last year. This year, the percentage of successful candidates is 82.24% and girls have beaten boys in the rate of success."
This year 10,42,714 students appeared for the secondary examination and 8,37,842 students of them were successful in this examination, Ganguly noted.
East Midnapore got the top position in the rate of success (95.04%).
Kolkata (90.86%) and South 24 Parganas (90.06%) are in the second and third positions respectively.
The WBBSE also published a merit list of top 10 positions, wherein, 54 students are holding the positions.
Arnab Mallick (97.43%) of Kamarpukur R K Mission and Anirudhha Sarkar (97.29%) of the Katwa Kashiram Das Institution have become first and second respectively in the secondary examination.
Pritam Das of Islampur High School and Bithi Mondal of Basirhaat Harimohan Ghosh Institute jointly got the third position.
Kalyanmoy Ganguly congratulated the successful students and also gave thanks to the examiners, employees of WBBSE and media.
WBBSE further announced the dates of the next year secondary examination.
It will start on Feb 23, 2015 and will end on Mar 4, 2015.
