Border firing declines in Jammu
Jammu, Oct 10 (IBNS): A day after Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre took tough stand on the ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops, the intensity of firing from across the 200-km International Border in Jammu and Kashmir declined significantly on Friday, media reports said.
The Centre earlier warned Pakistan that it would have to pay an “unaffordable price for its adventurism” along the border.
In the worst violation of ceasefire in a decade, at least eight people were killed and over 60 injured in heavy firing and shelling so far by Pakistani troops this week.
Sources said Pakistani troops fired at four Indian outposts in Jammu and Kashmir late on Thursday night.
The Border Security Force (BSF), however, said it was too early to call it “de-escalation”.
Sources said there has been no decision on resuming flag meetings at the border.
