Kolkata: Girl goes missing from Salt Lake, family claims abduction, rescued later

Kolkata, Apr 1 (IBNS): Nearly 16 hours after a 17-year-old girl went untraceable from Kolkata's Salt Lake area, police rescued her from Rajarhat New Town, reports said.

According to reports, the eleventh standard student of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education went to a shop near her residence at Salt Lake Sector III's FC Block area at around 8 pmon Saturday and did not return home.
 
Parents of the missing girl claimed that the teenager called them from her own number at around 10 pm. and switched her cell off after saying that she had been abducted.
 
They also alleged that 3-4 unidentified persons forcibly took their daughter into a car and left the place.
 
After the student's family lodged an abduction complaint at Bidhannagar South Police Station, police had started probe into the matter and rescued her from City Centre 2 shopping mall.
 
"We have rescued the missing girl from Rajarhat City Centre 2 and detained two youths, who were accompanying her," a senior official of Bidhannagar City Police told IBNS.
 
"Possibly it's not a case of abduction and she left home on her own.  We are investigation the matter to confirm what exactly happened with her," the official added. 
 
Meanwhile, another girl student of class ten has been reportedly missing since Mar 21 from Kolkata's Rajarhat New Town area and her family members also claimed that she has been kidnapped, reports said.
 
According to reports, she went untraceable since Mar 21 soon after leaving home for school.
 
Since Mar 24, her family have been receiving calls from a Bangladesh number demanding ransom and warning not to inform police to get their girl back alive, as her father claimed.    
 
Police officials said that an investigation into the case has been started and Bangladesh Police informed about the matter.
