Land Acquisition Amendment Bill to be tabled in LS today
New Delhi, Mar 9 (IBNS): The government is likely to table the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
The lower house of the Indian Parliament is likely to witness a storm over the issue.
According to reports, NDA leaders are likely to meet the opposition leaders before the bill is taken up for consideration in the Lok Sabha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier said amendment of the existing Land Acquisition Act is essential to enable creation of rural infrastructure including roads, houses for poor, schools, hospitals and irrigation projects.
He also made a passionate appeal to farmers not to be misled by those who were trying to project the Government`s initiatives for development, as being "anti-farmer."
