Pakistan Senate adopts Hindu Marriage Bill
Islamabad, Feb 18 (IBNS): Pakistan Senate has passed a much-awaited Bill to regulated the marriage of minority Hindus, the media reported on Saturday.
The Hindu Marriage Bill 2017 was adopted by the Senate on Friday.
The National Assembly or the lower house had approved the Bill in September 2015.
It now requires the assent of the President to become a law.
Reported to be widely-acceptable by the Hindus living in Pakistan, the Bill enables the minority community to get their marriages registered and to appeal in courts of law in cases of separation, according to media reports.
It also allows Hindus to have a documentary proof of marriage, the shadiparat.
