PM Modi reaches Canada for a 3-day visit

Ottawa, Apr 15 (IBNS): In the first standalone bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Canada in 42 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ottawa on Wednesday morning.

"A long wait ends - PM @narendramodi is in Canada. 1st Indian PM on a stand alone bilateral visit in 42 years," Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.
 
"It is the young who are especially excited to greet PM @narendramodi," he posted.
 
The purpose of the visit is reportedly to focus on cooperation in energy, including civil nuclear.
 
Modi's visit will also attempt in attracting trade and technology for India's development.
 
The Indian Prime Minister is scheduled to meet his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper and will also address business leaders.
 
He flew to Canada after wrapping up his two-day Germany visit where he attempted to to attract investments for 'Make-in-India' programme.
