New Delhi, Mar 14(IBNS) The Congress on Saturday said it will lodge a protest against the "intrusion" of police into party vice president Rahul Gandhi's residence.

The Congress has claimed that policemen visiting  Gandhi's residence at 12 Tuglak Lane last week, had asked for details like the colour of his eyes and hair.

The party said there was no need for such an exercise since Gandhi  is already a Special Protection Group (SPG) protectee and has Z-plus security.

"Getting into the privacy of the individual is a crime. Rahul Gandhi is a famous person who has nothing to hide," senior  Congress leader PC Chacko said.

The Delhi Police has said it was a routine visit as part of a security audit for all members of Parliament and no personal questions were asked.

Gandhi has been on a "leave of absence" since the Lok Sabha started for the budget session. The Congress has said he  is "abroad for introspection and soul searching.
