Price for PM Modis suit rises to Rs. 1.5 crore
Surat, Feb 20 (IBNS): A diamond merchant placed a bid of nearly Rs. 1.5 crore for Prime Minister Narendra Modis navy suit with his name woven into it in pin-stripes, media reports said.
The diamond merchant, Mukesh Patel, earlier offered Rs. 1.39 crore for the suit but later raised it to Rs. 1.48 crore. Gujarat-based industrialist Komalkant Sharma made the second best offer worth Rs. 1.41 crore.
Earlier on Wednesday, a businessman had placed a bid of Rs. 1 crore for the much-talked about suit that was up for auction in Gujarat's Surat. The suit was worn by the PM just once and it went on sale.
The first bid for Rs. 51 lakh was put in by a Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) leader Rajubhai Agarwal. Later, Suresh Agrawal, a textile businessman, just doubled the offer.
According to sources, the famous navy and gold suit was put on display at the Science Centre in the city. The three-day auction will end on Friday and interested buyers can bid till 5 pm.
