Rajnath Singh meets Uttarakhand CM, wishes him success
New Delhi, Mar 22 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday met with newly appointed Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and wished him success for the present term.
"Met with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat ji. Under his leadership Uttarakhand will achieve steady development. I wish him luck," Singh's tweet in Hindi read.
Rawat was sworn-in on Saturday, Mar 18.
Rawat, 57, was elected to the state Assembly from Doiwala constituency as he defeated Congress' Hira Singh Bisht by a margin of over 24,000 votes.
Rawat, a Thakur leader, who is said to be close to RSS, the ideological mentor of BJP, was among the frontrunners for Uttarakhand CM's post.
He is also known for his proximity to the BJP chief.
