Over the years, BITS has earned its reputation as one of the premier technical colleges in the country. With an amazing placement record and even amazing alumnus network, it is one of the most sought after technical institutes. However, securing a seat in the institute is not easy. After hours and hours of tedious studying, students are able to crack BITSAT, the qualifying exam for admission in Birla Institute of Technology and Science. BITSAT syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology needs to be prepared thoroughly to crack the exam. Below is a list of top ten tricks and tips that a candidate should follow to not only crack BITSAT, but also score above 300!

1.    Follow the syllabus religiously:

The key is to have a thorough knowledge of the syllabus before you start preparing for the exam. Students are advised to go through the BITSAT syllabus provided in the brochure. The brochure is easily available online. Students are requested to check the official website of BITS for the same.

2.    Prepare separately for JEE and BITSAT:

Students must remember that the syllabus for IIT-JEE and BITSAT is different. All the topics covered in latter are not covered in IIT-JEE. Students must revise all topics and strengthen the topics that they are comfortable with to make sure that they are making the most of the easy scoring sections.

3.    Concept is the key:

Students need to remember that concepts are the key to crack the paper. If your concepts are strong, only then you will be able to understand the questions and solve them accordingly.

4.    Time yourself:

Timing is of immense importance. You don’t want to miss out on any questions during the paper due to time constraints. Time yourself during mock tests and previous years’ question papers.

5.    Revision:

Practice makes a man perfect. Make sure to revise and practice thoroughly. Practical questions must be solved using pen and paper and not only theoretically. Once you are done revising old topics, spend atleast two hours on new topics. To get an idea of how the exam is going to be like, students should check BITSAT online test series available on the web. Students can improve their skills and efficiency by practicing on these mock tests regularly.

6.    Pen down important things:

Every section in the exam holds importance. While preparing, write down important information so that it comes handy whenever required. Vital chemical reactions, mathematics formulas and important vocabulary words can be written down for further assistance.

7.    Beware of negative marking:

8.    It is important for a candidate to attempt 100 questions correctly. BITSAT scoring also consists of negative marking. To be on a safer side, students are advised to attempt a minimum of 120 questions so that they can attempt to score atleast360 which can make them eligible for admission into BITS Pilani.Students can further divide the question paper into five parts to score a minimum of 360 marks. By attempting 20 questions in English and logical reasoning, 35 each in Chemistry and Mathematics, and 30 in Physics, students will be able to answer 120 questions in total.

9.    Start with the subject you are sure about:

Another trick is to begin answering the question paper with a subject that you are sure about. In that way, you can answer more questions in the first half of the exam and would not have to worry on missing out on any section due to ill managed timing.

10.  Build your speed:

Students should make sure to build their speed from the very beginning of the examination. They should spend only one minute per question in the first half of the paper as wasting too much time on a particular question can result in increased chaos in the end.

11.  Stay Confident:

The last tip to keep in mind while preparing for BITSAT is to stay confident. Students often lose confidence in themselves and start getting tired because of the monotonous hours of studying. It is advised to take 10-15 minutes breaks in between study hours to freshen up your mind and relieve yourself of stress.
