Tension prevails in Hyderabad over proposed TJAC rally on unemployment issues
Hyderabad, Feb 22 (IBNS): Tension prevailed in Hyderabad on Wednesday following detention of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman M. Kodandaram in the wake of proposed rally of unemployed youth, according to media reports.
The police refused to give permission for the Wednesday rally and a meeting at the Dharna Chowk near Indira Park, media reported.
On Tuesday, TJAC had rejected the proposal to hold the rally on Feb 26, Sunday.
TJAC Chairman, Kodandaram, asked the JAC leaders and the students to carry on with their peaceful protests even if the police try to prevent them from reaching the city, media reported.
Reportedly, the police broke into the TJAC chairman's house and arrested him early n Wednesday morning after he refused to surrender.
Kodandaram was taken into preventive custody in order to maintain law and order in the city, the media reported quoting senior police officials.
According to media reports, Hyderabad police have arrested many protesters from various places in the city. A large police force was also present at the Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram and at the Indira Park, where the protest was scheduled to take place.
