Three fresh tremors jolt Nepal, death toll crosses 8000

Kathmandu, May 10 (IBNS): Three fresh tremors rocked Nepal on Sunday triggering panic among the locals after the Himalayan nation witnessed a massive earthquake on Apr 25, resulting in the killing of over 8000 people.

Almost 150 aftershocks have been felt in Nepal since the massive earthquake hit the country last month.
 
The first tremor, having a magnitude of 4.2 on Richter Scale, was felt at 1.50 AM with its epicentre at Sindhupalchowk district, which is 100 km east of Kathmandu, according to the National Seismological Centre, Kathmandu.
 
It was followed by another measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale at 6.34 AMwith Sindhupalchowk as its epicentre.
 
The third one, measuring 4-magnitude, had its epicentre at Rasua. It was recorded at 11:08 AM on Sunday.
 
No damage has been reported so far due to these tremors. People are still in fear and are forced to stay in open spaces even after the passage of two weeks since the devastating quake hit the nation.
 
Meanwhile, the rescue operation was hit on Sunday as a result of fresh landslide and avalanche.
 
Nepal was hit by a devastating earthquake, which was the country's worst experience in over 80 years, on Apr 25. The death toll from the quake in the Himalayan nation has crossed over 8000 while over 16000 people have been left injured by the calamity.
