Aditya Thackeray defends cancellation of Ghulam Ali concert
Mumbai, Oct 8 (IBNS): Young Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray, son of Uddhav Thackeray, on Thursday defended the Sena protest against holding of musical concert of Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali when soldiers of India are victims of Pak firing along the border.
"We are not against his music or art. But can we enjoy when our soldiers are facing atrocities," said Aditya Thackeray.
Renowned Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali's concert in Mumbai has been cancelled after the Shiv Sena, which is an ally of the BJP government in Maharashtra, raised objections on the same.
Reacting to the move, Ghulam Ali told NDTV: "I'm not angry but very hurt. I have always got love in India."
Shiv Sena cancelled the concert stating that the state cannot have cultural ties with Pakistan when their troops kill Indian soldiers, said reports.
The event was supposed to be a tribute to Indian singer Jagjit Singh.
However, the BJP did not support their ally partner.
Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi of the BJP told NDTV: "What the Sena is doing with Ghulam Ali is absolutely wrong. People like him must be kept above and beyond borders."
