Hyderabad, Sept 15 (IBNS): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday created history when he held the first eCabinet meeting with his states council of Ministers, a first of its kind not only in Andhra, but in whole India.
Taking ahead the rare distinction of being called as “CEO of Andhra Pradesh”, which he acquired during his previous tenure as unified Andhra Pradesh’s CM, Naidu took a further step in e-Governance by making his cabinet absolutely “paperless”.
Naidu and his council of Ministers entered the meeting wielding iPads in their hands.
As per media reports, there was no unusual about the agenda of the meeting, barring that it’s paperless.
This meant that ministers don't have to cart reams of papers and files, either carrying it themselves or getting an assistant to do it for them.
It has been learnt, by using a mobile app “eCabinet”, ministers would access the entire agenda of the Cabinet meeting in electronic form.
They would access data by logging into the app on desktops, laptops and iPads.
The ministers would have to use passwords to access data.
The features of the app prevent the user from sharing it with anyone.
There is also safety to the data as it is password-protected unlike in the conventional method where papers could easily be taken away from the member of the Cabinet by anyone, media reported.
Andhra Pradesh government, during Naidu’s previous stint as Chief Minister between 1995 and 2004, had been a pioneer in launching various e-Governance initiatives.

During his current tenure, he is making use of the advances in technology like Cloud to further e-Governance and the “eCabinet” is a ‘momentous’ initiative, the CMO sources pointed out.
In the mean time, BJP led NDA government, with whom Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party(TDP) is an ally, on Monday declared Vijayawada and Vizag would be developed as 'smart cities'.
Talking to reporters, Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, "Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam to be developed as smart cities."
He also said that Vijayawada, Guntur and Tenali would be provided Metro rail services.
Notably, the state government had recently announced that the new capital of Andhra Pradesh would be located "around Vijayawada".
