BJP sweeps MCD polls, humiliated AAP cries foul, Maken resigns
New Delhi Apr 26 (IBNS) : True to the exit polls predictions and the trends elsewhere in the country, the Bharatiya Janata party is poised for a sweeping victory in Delhi civic body election, crushing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party.
In the capital's three civic bodies- North, South and East, the party has already won or taken irreversible lead in 183 wards pushing Arvind Kejriwal's AAP a microscopic second with only 48. The Congress has won or leads in 30 wards.
Taking responsibility for the party's defeat, Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken announced his resignation, while the the AAP blamed it on EVM tampering.
"We have seen that BJP is engaged in corruption, misgovernance and is responsible for spreading epidemics in Delhi. Without EVM rigging, such a result for BJP is not possible. People in Delhi can't vote for BJP in such a huge number, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
Welcoming the people's verdict, BJP President Amit Shah said, "Delhi has chosen a Government that works for development."
Delhi BJP leader Manoj Tiwari said the party won't celebrate the victory in the wake of the Sukma attack in which 25 CRPF personnel were killed by Maoists.
