IAS officer drowns in Delhi swimming pool while trying to save woman colleague
New Delhi, May 30 (IBNS) : An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer drowned in a swimming pool on Monday night after he jumped into it to save a woman colleague, NDTV reported.
The incident took place during a poolside party in the premises of a civil services training institute in south Delhi.
The reports quoted eye witnesses as saying that Ashish Dahiya, 30, was with his friends when some of them decided to go for a swim. When a woman officer slipped and fell into the pool, Dahiya and others jumped into the pool to save her.
Though the woman officer was pulled out safely, Dahiya was found missing. Soon he was seen floating.
Dahiya was pulled out of the water, given resuscitation with a medical officer attending on him before being taken to a hospital where he was declared dead around 1 am.
Dahiya's family lives in Haryana's Sonepat.
Police has started an investigation into the incident.
