        India observes Ganesh Chaturthi
Mumbai, Sept 17 (IBNS) The Hindu God of the beginning of all things pristine, Lord Ganesha is loved by all for his attributes, be it his head, an elephant shaped yet quick witted or the sheer size of his totem, a rat.
	The Hindu community of India and several other states celebrates ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ in his honour, with a lot of pomp and flair.
	
Celebrated as a public event by the Great Maratha ruler Shivaji, this one took a giant form as it is one of the biggest festival in Western India and the biggest in India’s financial capital, Mumbai.
	
Ganesh Chaturthi like most festival is a great social leveler. It brings about people from different walks of life together as they take turn to celebrate this immensely popular God.
	
On the morning of Ganesh Chaturthi, the President and Prime Minister of India wished its citizen.
	
President Mukherjee wrote on Twitter: “Warm greetings & good wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad on the joyous occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi #PresidentMukherjee.”
	
He followed it up with several other tweets, all directed toward the citizens.
	
PM Modi wrote: “Ganapati Bappa Morya! Greetings on Ganesh Chaturthi. May Lord Ganesha bless us with abundant happiness & prosperity.”
	
Other politicos too conveyed their messages through the micro blogging website.
	
West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee wrote: “Ganapati Bappa Morya.”
	
Bollywood royalty, Amitabh Bachchan wrote: “T 1996 - Happy Ganesh Chaturthi ... blessings and prosperity and love.”
