Indian Consul General Toronto visits Dixie Gurudwara
Toronto Aug 30 (IBNS): The Consulate General of India Toronto, Dinesh Bhatia, paid a visit to the Dixie Gurudwara, the largest Sikh Temple in Canada.
He attended a condolence meeting of late Gurbachan Singh Sandhu, father of B J Sandhu, prominent Indo-Canadian working with Peel Police.
The Sikh temple is a prominent place of worship and attracts thousands of devotees to celebrate major Punjabi festivals all throughout the year.
Apart from the religious practices, the temple also nurtures and educates the Indo-Canadian youth in Punjabi language. There is a big library inside the temple which stocks books in Punjabi language along with religious scriptures.
The Consul General appreciated the staff’s efforts in inculcating, practicing and preaching Indian languages. As a mark of encouragement he also gifted a set of Punjabi books for the temple Library.
As a part of his trip, he also visited the langar (food) hall and the main prayer hall to offer his own prayers too.
