Nitish, Kejriwal to attend PM's meet today
New Delhi, Jul 15 (IBNS) Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal will attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's NITI Ayog meeting on Wednesday, though most of the chief ministers from opposition parties will skip the programme.
At the meeting Modi is expected to discuss amendments to the government's controversial land acquisition bill.
Reports said among those who have intimated their inability to attend the meeting are West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee, Naveen Patnaik from Odisha and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, apart from the chief ministers of nine Congress-ruled states.
However, Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal is attending the meeting. So is Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, who met Kejriwal in Delhi yesterday.
Patnaik and Yeradav are not attending reportedly on the ground of prior engagements, but Mamata Banerjee has written to the PM saying she cannot attend as her party opposes the bill and wants it withdrawn.
