Shutdown hits life in Kashmir Valley

by IBNS 17 Jun 2015, 11:39 am

Srinagar, June 17 (IBNS) Normal life was disrupted due to a shutdown being observed across the Kashmir valley on Wednesday against a spree of targeted killings in north Kashmirs Sopore town.

The call was given by pro-freedom leaders.

The pro-freedom leaders in three separate statements announced their programme.

They blamed the “Indian secret agencies” for the killings in the area.

All educational institutions, shops and business establishments remained closed in the summer capital Srinagar while government offices and banks witnessed a thin attendance.

Public transport is largely off the roads while private transport was plying normally.

The killings began last week when gunmen shot and killed a separatist activist in Sopore.

That was followed by the deaths of three former militants and a separatist sympathizer.

Separatists have called for a rally in Sopore on Friday.
