India-China border stand-off resolved: Sushma Swaraj
New York, Sep 26 (IBNS): Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday said that the ongoing border stand-off along the India and China border in Ladakh was resolved and soldiers from both sides would withdraw by Tuesday, reports said.
Dubbing the development as a “big accomplishment”, she said: “I am happy to tell you that both nations have sat down and resolved the issue…Timelines have been drawn. The bad phase will end by September 30th. The withdrawal of troops will be completed. I talked about this with the Chinese Foreign Minister.”
The India’s foreign minister said this to reporters in New York after a meeting with her counterparts in Brazil and South Africa on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
Over 1,000 armed Chinese troops and 1,500 Indian Army personnel were engaged in an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation at Chumur in Ladakh since September 11.
Tension erupted as some Chinese workers crossed over with heavy construction equipment to build a road up five km deep inside Indian Territory.
