New Delhi, Apr 8 (IBNS) With more than 4000 Indians being brought home from the strife-torn Yemen, the government has decided to end the air evacuation operation on Wednesday and asked those remaining to leave by the day.

"We will end our air evacuation efforts from Sanaa today and all those who want to leave should do so by today," the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said.

He said the  total number of Indian evacuees from war-ravaged Yemen was 4100, including the last batch of 700 people rescued in three air sorties.

The spokesperson, however, said the government may continue the evacuation by sea route for some more time, they added.

Meanwhile, 11 Indians who were evacuated by the Pakistan Navy's Aslat from Yemen's southeastern city of Mukallah have reached Karachi  and are expected to return home soon.

India has  received requests from 26 countries including the US, Bangladesh and Iraq for assistance in evacuating their nationals from Yemen, torn by a  war between Saudi-led coalition and shiite Houthi rebels.
