Jallikattu wrangle continues, PM says matter sub-judice, TN wants ordinance
New Delhi/Chennai, Jan 19 (IBNS): The wrangle over Jallikattu (a bull-taming sport) of Tamil Nadu, banned by the Supreme Court in May 2014 continues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying the matter is sub-judice in reply to TN Chief Minister's request for an ordinance on the matter, according to media reports.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday.
After meeting the PM, TN chief minister said that they want on ordnance on the issue and the ban on Jallikattu removed, media reported.
He also said that the PM is sympathetic towards the feelings of the people of Tamil Nadu over Jallikattu, reported NDTV.
AIADMK chief Sasikala has also written a letter to the PM on the issue.
Meanwhile, the protest at Marina Beach in Chennai swelled manifold on Thursday with the protesters demanding that transport stays off the road on Friday, media reported.
The protesters also threatened not to disperse until their demand is met about removing the ban on Jallikattu, media reported.
