Longest surviving militant killed in Kashmir encounter
Srinagar, Jan 6 (IBNS) : Security forces shot dead top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Kashmir's Budgam district on Fridaymorning.
Following information about the presence of a wanted LeT commander, police and army launched a joint operation at Gulzarpora village of Muchwa.
"The forces were fired upon after they closed on the house where Muzaffar Ahmad Naiku alias Muza Molvi was hiding," the police said.
“During brief gunfight the militant was killed. The encounter has ended," they said.
Reports also said that one policeman was injured in the operation.
The police said the slain commander, who hailed from Sopore town of north Kashmir was one of the longest surviving militants and the most wanted guerrilla in Jammu. He was active since 2009.
