Operation Sankat Mochan: VK Singh, team to rescue stranded Indians from Sudan
New Delhi, July 14 (IBNS): In a hands-on approach, MOS for External Affairs General VK Singh and a team of two C-17 military transport aircraft left for Juba on Thursday morning to rescue Indians from the war-torn land.
The operation named Sankat Mochan will see around 600 stranded Indians rescued from South Sudan's capital city.
"Time to leave.Thanku all 4the messages & good wishes. We will do our best 2bring back every Indian.Op #SankatMochan," Singh tweeted earlier on Thursday.
"#OperationSankatMochan begins at crack of dawn. Two C 17 aircraft leave for Juba with @Gen_VKSingh on board," Vikas Swarup, Official Spokesperson for MEA tweeted.
However, only Indians with valid documents will be allowed to board the flight, with a maximum baggage capacity of five kilos.
Priority will be given to children and women.
