New Delhi, May 2 (IBNS) : As the mutilation of bodies of two Indian soldiers continues to rock the country, the Border Security Force has said that the Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) that launched cross-border attack on Indian posts in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, comprised army regulars and terrorists.

Briefing media on Tuesday, Assistant Director General of Border Security, Force's Western Command Kamal Nayan Choubey on Tuesday said the Pakistan Army took advantage of the heavy firing by the BAT team  and effected the mutilation to the bodies of Indian soldiers

"When a patrol party of BSF went towards the boundary they were ambushed by the Border Action Team and the Field Deployment Location placed by the Pak Army along the Line of Control," the ADG said.

"The Pakistan Army took advantage of the heavy firing by the BAT team comprising Pakistan regulars and Mujahideen elements and effected the mutilation to the bodies of Indian soldiers," he said.

"Indian Army soldier Rajendra Kumar was critically injured in the cross fire and has been evacuated to the military hospital in Udhampur"

There are clearly-defined SOPs in place for the Army and BSF patrol parties, which are deployed along the LoC. However, there is an element of surprise with such raids, on account of which we need to revisit our SOPs to make our patrols more foolproof and avoid casualities of such nature

Meanwhile, Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat, who arrived in Srinagar on Monday evening on a two-day visit, will hold a high-level meeting with top officials of the ministry of Defence and Army in the backdrop o the pak attack in Poonch sector.

Indian Army had vowed an “appropriate” response to the “despicable act”, which  took place a day after Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa visited some areas along the LoC.
