Rajnath Singh says the Una Dalit incident has upset PM Modi
New Delhi, Jul 20 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, while replying to the Opposition's queries on the Gujarat Dalit case, in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, said that the government strongly condemned the attack and that the incident has upset Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the media reported.
The minister said nine accused have been detained and four police officials suspended.
The Opposition continued to create a ruckus and interrupted the Home Minister several times.
Rajnath Singh said that attacks on Dalits is a social evil and people must unite against these attacks.
Many places in Gujarat, including Una, are seeing a breakdown in law and order situation after four Dalit men were stripped and beaten by self-styled cow vigilantes on July 11.
The Congress has demanded a joint parliamentary committee to deal with the issue, media reported.
Earlier in the day, the Rajya Sabha was also adjourned several times, as Opposition members stormed the well and protested vociferously.
