RSS defamation case : Rahul Gandhi gets bail from Assam local court
Guwahati, Sep 29 (IBNS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who got a bail on Thursday from a local court in Assam on a defamation case filed by the RSS, said that the Sangh Parivar wants to divide the country, according to media reports.
Rahul Gandhi appeared before the Kamrup CJM court in Guwahati in connection with a defamation case filed by the RSS
After his court appearance, the Congress vice president said that, RSS wants to divide the country and his fight will continue against them.
"I am not scared and my fight will continue against poverty, unemployment and underdevelopment," Rahul Gandhi said to media.
"BJP wants to disturb my 30-day trip to Uttar Pradesh for the farmers and that is reason such cases have been filed against me. But I am not scared," Rahul Gandhi said.
A volunteer of the RSS had filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi last year for the remarks of the Congress vice president against the Sangh Parivar during his visit to Assam.
In December last, Gandhi was scheduled to visit the Barpeta Satra monastery before a road show in December but didn't do so as there were some women pilgrims inside.
The next day, he claimed in Parliament that some "RSS people" had stopped him from entering the temple.
The RSS, which is the ideological mentor of the ruling BJP, denied the allegation.
Gandhi is fighting another defamation case for linking the RSS with the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
The local court in Assam has granted bail on PR bond to the Congress vice president.
Before he left for New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi also discussed about upcoming elections with the top Congress party leaders of Assam unit at Rajiv Bhawan.
